Garena announced the Garena Professional League (GPL) in the month of May 2012, which is a six-month professional gaming competition that features more than 100 matches online. GPL's inaugural season features six teams comprised of experienced League of Legends players. These teams feature the very best athletes from their respective countries. GPL matches are recorded and streamed on the internet with commentary, available to fans on the official site. Garena Premier League 2013 includes two teams new from Taiwan as well as Vietnam which brings the total number of teams to 8. They include AHQ (Asia), Saigon Fantastic Five (Saigon Jokers), Bangkok Titans (Bangkok), Kuala Lumpur Hunters(Kuala Lumpur) The Manila Eagles(Manila) Taiwan Assassins, and Singapore Sentinels. In November 2014, the Garena Electronic Sports Stadium, a space specifically for esports, opened at Neihu District, Taipei. The first studio was opened in the month of November 2014 at the beginning of the League of Legends Masters Series. It's the top LoL Taiwanese, Hong Kongese, and Macau LoL League, which was created from the GPL. Garena launched with the Iron Solari League - a League of Legends competition for women in the Philippines - in January of 2015. The event is held in the second month of every month. It is designed to increase participation for people who aren't represented, and is open to anyone who self-identifies as female. Besides competitive tournaments, Garena also organizes events to cater to users who want to connect and meet offline.
