Rachel Keller

RachelRachel Keller is a fictional character from The Ring film series. The character was invented by producer-writer Ehren Kruger and portrayed by Naomi Watts, serves as the protagonist in The Ring and The Ring Two which share a number of similarities with Reiko Asakawa from the earlier Japanese films.Introduced in the 2002 film, Rachel is an investigative journalist trying to figure out a way to escape death after having watched a cursed video tape that she came across while investigating the murder of her niece. Rachel is required to dig into the past of Samara Morgan when her son becomes ill with a mysterious illness. Ruth asks Rachel Keller, an investigative journalist to discover the reason for Katie's death. Rachel is told by Ruth, her sister, that she found Katie's disfigured body inside the closet. She also divulges that Katie died of a heart attack. Katie's friends tell Rachel about the legend of the videotape that was cursed and Becca Katie's best friend was confined after Katie's death. Katie's boyfriend and her two friends were killed in bizarre accidents the same night , at 10 after 10. Rachel goes to Shelter Mountain Inn, where she is in Cabin 12. The cabin in question is one where Katie and her friends saw the tape that had been cursed. Rachel finds the tape and plays it. The phone rings. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel turns to Noah Clay, her ex-boyfriend and a video analyst , for assistance. Rachel learns later that Aidan, Noah's son, was watching the tape when Noah called her. He informs Rachel that Noah believes Rachel. Rachel searches the tape for the lighthouse and finds it is situated on Moesko Island. This was the residence of Anna Morgan, an evil horse breeder cursed to appear on the cursed tape. Rachel uncovers that Anna had an adoptive daughter named Samara. Samara was able to create disturbing images that were able to be projected into the minds of humans, animals and other objects. Rachel is introduced to Anna's widower Richard however, he takes her leave when she begins to inquire about Samara.
